Tyla Hadland
Musical Theatre Teacher
Tyla Hadland is a graduate of the University of Waikato, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Screen and Media Studies and minors in Theatre and Dance Studies.
During her time at university, Tyla directed, choreographed, and reimagined musical theatre projects, gaining hands-on experience in creative leadership and production design. She also led the university’s dance club, fostering an inclusive and energetic community.
Beginning her dance journey at age five, Tyla went on to complete NZAMD examinations in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary. She has performed in multiple NPOS Christmas Cabaret productions and more recently appeared as a Merry Murderess in Chicago. These experiences have strengthened her understanding of ensemble work and character-driven theatre.
Tyla is dedicated to creating inclusive, supportive environments where students feel empowered to explore their artistic voices. She believes in the performing arts as a powerful catalyst for empathy, collaboration, and personal growth, and strives to make theatre accessible and transformative for all learners.
